I wanted a new neck carry for work at a wetland farm. Needed something to use as an on-the-fly EDC general small utility knife while on the field…something for tasks smaller than what a leatherman tool would require. It works really well on rope, twine, vines and weeds (think clearing vines off a chain link fence), some stems, or for general emergencies. Seems like it could cut a seatbelt with some effort. Very light and after 5 minutes, I forgot the blade was around my neck. Iʻm 5ʻ6″ and the top of the sheath is at the top of the sternum, so for me, the necklace is the perfect size.
I used to use a Schrade push knife around my neck, but because that was over 6″, it had too much movement and weight. It worked better for the same tasks than the smaller blade, but now that I found out the SCHF54 is discontinued, I will keep that reserved as a boot holstered emergency self defense blade.
If you are looking for something for emergency self defense (last resort), Iʻd recommend a push knife with a dual sided blade of at least 3″. I frequently come into contact with wild dogs or loose hunting dogs in the wetland and I needed a knife that doesnʻt inhibit work but could whip out if a dog attacked me by surprise (I know, fat chance of survival but anything is better than nothing). If you want a small utility knife bigger than a box cutter but smaller than a solid pocket knife for tasks, get this.
If you want a self-defense device around your neck, sabre red pepper gel flip top on a lanyard may be more effective than a blade.

I bought a different neck knife that I liked, but it wasn’t comfortable enough to wear all the time. This one offers the belt clip, which is a game changer. It sits right next to the buckle, so I don’t even notice it. I’m the kind of person that likes to have and use a pocket knife a lot. With this being where it is on my belt, I can position it the way I would like for both self defense and everyday use. SOG makes good products in my experience. They made a baton multitool that I used to have that my coworkers used to get jealous of. I’m going to see if I can find it again but definitely recommend this knife for the belt aspect. It is also lighter than my other one so it would probably be alright around the neck as well.

As title says its a bit smaller than expected but built very sturdy. I came out of the package extremely sharp. We will have to see how it holds up over time.

Nothing short of Perfect

Great little sharp knife out of the box, the negative aspect would be the chain (very thin) and the sheath, if you jump up and land firmly the knife falls out…..not much else to say.

The knife itself is great. It holds an edge and is a good size for a small edc. However I personally choose to carry this horizontally on my belt and the detent that holds the knife into the holster has worn out enough after 2 months that it falls out and makes it basically uncarryable.

First, it is tiny. Still it is a nice knife. Sold to be used as a neck knife, but it sets loosely in the sheath. If you wore it on your neck it would fall out. The riveting is just not sufficient to hold the knife. Probably will be kept in a drawer to avoid loss.

Just got it out of the box. Put it in the shealth and won’t come out. No matter how hard I pull. I have to grab the shealth with a towel and pull. Few time and it losse a bit. Still firm so it wont fall but easy to pull bare hands

The sheath does not hold the knife very well. It fell out a few times the first time I used it. But the knife its self is great.

I am a big fan of SOG knives. Very cool knife but the strap that holds the knife in will pop open and drop the knife on your foot and/or horse. Really love the knife though

This knife is simply Awesome
weight & feel are spot on for a knife this size, it seems pretty balanced for a folder. It’s not bulky, the materials & build are of a high standard & quality. The liner lock, locks the blade in place VERY well & the blade feels very secure when unfolded, the blade isn’t loose (no slight jiggle, very firm & in place). It will take a few times of opening & closing to “loosen up” the swivel so it swings more smoothly. The Blade is NOT polished to a mirror finish as the last one I had was; not that it matters. The bolsters ARE buffed to a mirror finish which makes them a finger print magnet, but again that doesn’t really matter as it will be in my pocket most of the time.
